STYLE GUIDES / ART DIRECTION & DESIGN
Over the years, I've worked on the creation of various style guides. These have not only given me the opportunity to create beautiful graphics but have also allowed me to think about brand and brand usage in new ways.
For instance, ABC hired the agency I was working with to create a licensing style guide for their hit show Once Upon a Time. They wanted to address two very different audiences—an elevated, older market with a focus on home goods items and a younger demographic interested in tees and fan memorabilia. Using the same content, I was able to apply different graphic stylings and speak to each of these audiences.
For Bob's Burgers, the challenge was creating something new for an almost 10-year-old brand whose fans had 'seen it all.' The idea we came up with was to focus on a singular aspect of the show: the location of the Wonder Wharf. Once that framework had been established, we created graphics and executions that were all reminiscent of boardwalk culture, thus breathing new life into the artwork.
Similarly, with RuPaul's DragCon, the concept involved theming the conference so that each year had a distinct look while staying true to the brand. The theme for 2017 was Pop Art, and this style was consistently executed across all touchpoints.
